  • About Me:

I was elected Secretary of PHANZA in 2007 and was re-elected in 2008 and 2009. I joined the History Group of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage in July 2008 to work as a historian on NZHistory.net.nz.

I completed my undergraduate degree majoring in history and politics in 2001 via extramural study at Massey University. Following some overseas travel I completed a Masters of Museum and Heritage Studies at Victoria University in 2005. While completing my masters I completed two practical placements, one working on Te Ara at the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and the other within the National Library Gallery, researching and co-curating an exhibition on propaganda posters collected by W B Sutch. My thesis was on the position of New Zealand history in secondary schools.

Prior to joining the History Group I worked at the New Zealand Historic Places Trust registering historic places and areas in the Central Region. I have also worked within the policy team at the National Library of New Zealand on the New Zealand Digital Content Strategy. My main areas of interest are heritage, politics, war and history in schools.
