- About Me
Currently I am employed as Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the Eastern Institute of Technology in Hawke's Bay. I am a Chartered Accountant, and hold post graduate qualifications in accounting, including a Master of Business Studies (Massey).
Since 2004, I have focussed my private and professional research objectives to recording elements of Hawke's Bay's history.
I formed my own company, Michael Fowler Publishing Limited to publish my books in 2007.
My areas of study are: Hawke's Bay business history, the 1931 Hawke's Bay Earthquake and local social history.
In the past few years I have received a number of private commissions including a book on kindergarten history, and for the Hawke's Bay Chamber Business Hall of Fame.
I am also available to speak on the 1931 Hawke's Bay Earthquake; my latest was as keynote speaker for the North Island Emergency Management Conference in November 2009.
