About Me

I have been a public historian continuously since 1985, now one of the longest-serving in the field. I graduated MA (1st Class Hons) from Massey in 1971 and worked for a while in journalism and at the Consumers' Institute. I have been on the committee of PHANZA for a number of years and was treasurerr 2004-7.

Over the years I have tackled just about every kind of contract history going.- local, business, some treaty work, official history, voluntary societies. Since 1992 I have been in partnership with Graham Butterworth and we have written a number of books together. I was National Library Fellow in 1993-4.
